Drake and Chris Brown lose a fortune in the closing seconds of UFC 305

Both Drake and Chris Brown lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in bets following the result of UFC 305 on Saturday, which saw Dricus Du Plessis defeat Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title.
It was Du Plessis who came away with victory thanks to a submission in the fourth round as he defended his middleweight title in Perth, Australia. The South African’s dominance in the division continued, as it marked his eighth consecutive win on the UFC stage.
For Adesanya though it was yet more disappointment, after the Nigerian fell to his third defeat in four fights, and second-straight loss having been beaten by Sean Strickland last September.
Despite their contrasting form books, the pair were unsplittable in the betting, with two of the world’s biggest music stars opting to favor the experience of Adesanya. Brown took to Instagram before the fight to share his backing of the Nigerian star.
Posting a grab of his bet slip, the singer placed a $150,000 bet on Adesanya to come away victorious, with a return of $276,000. And he was not alone, with Drake also placing his backing behind the 35-year-old, laying a whopping $450,000 in the hope of winning $855,000.
Drake is known for his best sporting bets – as well as his bad luck. So much so the Canadian artists’ sports backing has led to the creation of the ‘Drake curse’, having lost the large majority of his big-money events across all sports.
And he added yet another loss to his record on Saturday after Du Plessis got the better of Adesanya. With the Nigerian now 35, doubt had been cast over the future of his career in the octagon, and he addressed following his loss in Australia.

Despite the concerns, he informed those in the arena on Saturday that he has no plans to retire just yet. I am 35, and I am doing the right things,” Adesanya claimed post-fight. Then Channelling his inner Wolf of Wall Street, the fighter claimed: “I’m not -—— leaving, I’m not -—— leaving!”
He went on: “I’m disappointed in myself but at the same time I’m proud. This is the best I’ve ever felt, the best I’ve ever looked, I just fought the better man on the night and I give him respect for that.”
